If you go to the events link here you get the calendar info and those events are in social media too
Maybe I'm missing something, but I see no work days on the events page?

Nor / Redstrong - Can you send me the details about the Xplains work? I have never actually gotten to those trails yet so I think it'd be a fun way to get familiar

There might not be official events at the moment but they are posted. I believe others have said how it is challenging to have events now, and as volunteers we have limited time but we do our best.

Randy and I worked at Pleasant View yesterday but it was a challenge for both of us to set a time. I was afraid to make a public post for people new to this when I had no idea I could reliably meet at a particular time.

Please trust me that I do my  best to meet people interested in working.

If anyone is interested in meeting up Saturday the 19th around 11am to do some trail work, let me know.  I have a bow saw, loppers and a weed whip.  also I will try to gather some people or at least their tools if we can get a few of us out there.  It would be a good chance to meet up, exchange numbers and maybe talk about teaming up to make the trails legit.  Also, having a group text in addition to posting here maybe a more effective way to get stuff going and get stuff done.

I will try to scout out Downed trees that Redstrong has mentioned and see if a bow saw would do the trick.  I know someone from the community that has  an electric chainsaw that we could potentially get out there if thats what it takes.

Saturday looks like it will be a nice cool day so hopefully the mosquito's will stay away.  If another day or time works for others feel free to suggest something.

I don't have much in the way of tools (I have tools for construction but not landscaping), but I can provide labor

    Thank you Randy.

On Sunday we did some more dirt work and trimmed some branches that were somewhere between losing points for style and annoying.

I wasn't suggesting that you shouldn't use a chainsaw, only suggesting alternatives if you can't find one.

There are two fallen branches that are blocking two different paths.
One of them is on the ground on an MTB path and the other is at an angle still attached to the tree blocking a bike or hike thru way.
I plan to rent an ax very soon for the one on the ground.
As for the other, I believe it wood take a saw bigger than what you suggested and I am not sure about swinging away and chopping at that one.
I may at least give it a try but I'm under the impression that axes are only meant for wood that is horizontal and vertical.
If you object to us citizens using chain saws any suggestions for anyone of county parks to call about it would be welcome.

And it's not like the county is unaware of this land.
There is a section where they dump natural waste such as cut logs, brush, dirt etc.

I'm not sure how big the trees are, but you can do more than you think with a decent handsaw.  I have one of these, which I figured would be passable, but has turned out to be a great tool; small enough to fit in a riding pack, makes quick work of anything up to 4" diameter, and with a little patience and determination can handle 6".  Step up to a bigger Silky or a Fiskars, and you'll wonder why anyone lugs around a chainsaw.  Some trail workers swear by a sharp hatchet, too.

The event is being put on in collaboration with Madison Parks; they know there is a need for off-road bike facilities in Madison in general and the north and east sides in particular.  The idea of the event is to gauge and build enthusiasm for those, particularly at Warner Park.  So we don't need to do alot of lobbying, but a good turnout will confirm their belief that this is a priority.

As far as the Burdocks go, that is County land, so Parks won't have much say there (though there is Parks land close-by).  But it will be a decent opportunity to meet and talk about the Burdock's, so look for me there, I'll be at both days.

Check here for an early version of the MadBATS concept we developed and Parks is running with.  I believe they currently have about 80 sites on the table; obviously all those won't get built, but there are alot of possibilities.

Other than that, the event may be the only chance to ride off-road this weekend, given the rain, and I think the skateboarders will have skateboards to try if you in case you haven't been able to break any bones mountain biking.

I see that you have an upcoming event in my turf at Warner Park called "Pop Up Wheel Spots" for Sun. Sept. 20th from 2-4 pm
It looks like it is something to lobby the Mad. Parks Dept. for getting MTB trails and skateboarding play areas for the N/E side of MadTown?
Would this be the time and place to bring up the Burdocks Trails to see about making those official?

If so, then I would like to be there to meet CORP members and discuss that.

I was also wondering what, if any, parks in this area CORP may have on it's radar for MTB trails.

What else is this event about or is that pretty much it?

Thank you in advance for any responses.
