Flagging, Building, and riding this weekend

    November 11, 2012, 10:01 PM

I think we could plan this on a bigger scale. There is no need to keep the existing trail in any way except near the TTFs.

I'll do some scouting after work next week to see how much more trial we can add.

I think more mileage is progress, the design is getting better.  I do like Jeff's idea because it adds more beginner mileage and forms a loop option.  The brainstorming team is getting closer.  If you and Tom can get this flagged and have agreement, the oldschool backwoods crew will cut it out before the snow.  We have momentum here, let's get it done... this is looking real IMBA style.

Tom, make sure Jeff knows about the rock spine near the Tunnel Trail.

good idea, except those areas are not in the woods. and i don't know if there are any elevations , it's almost in the ponds.
I think it would be in the woods. The dotted yellow, dark green and blue on Jeff’s map should match up with this…

Is the area at the top of the hill usable?

The satellite image shows room for a lot of trail. My gps tracks also show a lot of woods on either side. Maybe we can fit even more trail than we thought.

firstRWD: I think you mean the area to the left of the sandy climb. I believe it is usable, but it can't be accessed at the bottom of the hill due. I think we would have to ride to the top of the climb and then turn left into it, ride around, and then come back out near where we go into this section. It would be another good option to add mileage. It's a great future plan...  So much to do.

We will be scouting routes Tuesday, November 13, from roughly 3 pm until dark. Find us near the TTF features if you want to help.

oh well, cool, but my memory was that area was just flat out pedalling

You're right, that area is currently just flat out pedaling. The goal is to make the trail longer and more interesting with a twisty trail, avoiding the doubletrack where possible.

I think the history of this trail is they flagged a route similar to what we are working on today when Quarry Ridge was officially opened. Due to lack of time as they rapidly built the trail to meet the deadline of the park opening, they had to simplify and use the double track instead.

Lots of progress tonight. skota had some really good trails marked out. We found there was more woods there than we thought was available. We basically expanded the route in every way and turned 300 feet of double track into over 1/4 mile of singletrack. It should be a fun trail.

Stay tuned for a weekend workday November 17 or 18 to clear the corridor. A lot of honeysuckle needs to be removed.

Red is marked, green is soon to be marked.

I've got to head over to the blue moon for F1 sunday around noon but I'm planning on working as much as my wife will allow.
Do you guys have any times that will work well for you?

Flippin fantastic guys.  I'm so happy to see the change new leadership sometimes brings.  Can't wait for the extra mileage out there, wish I could work in time to help.

I would prefer either Saturday or Sunday morning. Talk with The Grey Ghost and post an official time so others can help out.

Every red blooded American should be shooting piles of deer Saturday (gun deer opener)... unless you are at Cam Rock of course.  Early Sunday morning I will be at Quarry Ridge and will cut as much of the flagged corridor as I can.  All business, with no talking.  I will find another window of time soon.

I am geting over a nasty whatever I had, but can put in a little time, as long as I don't get shot with a chainsaw.  Maybe some Sunday clean up and finishing work after the chain stops?

I can come out Sunday (tomorrow) afternoon and do some work/riding. Let me know if anyone will be there or how I can get access to tools to finish anything!

Hey guys, I'll be out clearing the newly flagged areas early Sunday morning (7-9am) with a saw.  I don't have keys to the box, I bring my own. Pulling sticks off the trail, digging out stobs and cleaning up behind would be helpful.  I will just be sawing, no biking, cause I'm short on time.  Some gloves and loppers would be helpful if you gots.  We want to clear the flagged lines so they are wide enough to jog through/ ride through.  If no one is there just clear what you can.
