^ Good to know Aaron. Look forward to seeing you and the fam.

Nick, you started this excursion. What say you about getting into the room once we arrive?

Bummed we have to head out early and can't stay longer. So The Hutchens' Gang plans to get there as soon as possible and get the most out of the day as we can.

We are checked into the Black Box room. I brought some tools and a pump in of folks need to tweak those rides.

All in all a pretty great day. Learned some new moves. Kiddos and spousal unit had fun. Conquered the foam pit, the elevator, the hamster wheel, and much more comfortable on the pump track. Lots of folks headed out early for some football game tonight? Will have to get some pics up later. I was too busy to get many, Janet has most of them.

Big thanks to Nick for getting the Black Box Room reserved. That worked out really nice with the group. It was good to have a place to park for eating and general hanging out between riding sessions. Reminded me a lot of being at a ski hill. Ride. Take breaks. Take the same runs again and try to either do them better or hit a different line. Tons of variations for each line.

I rented a dirt jumper, and took the fatty. Honestly had more fun on the 9:ZERO:7. Maybe just a comfort level thing. But the rental was a completely different animal than I am used to. Hard for me to lift the front on slow technical terrain, and with no stem it was very twitchy whenever I got it in the air. I just could not get comfortable on it when the tires were off the ground. It seemed very well suited to the pump track, but made me nervous on bigger airs or slower technical lines. The rest of the family rode their own steeds.

    My body count:
-Left calf is scraped and a nice big deep muscle bruise
-Left knee is bloodied and looks like hamburger
-Right knuckles are scraped and bloody
-Right wrist has some nice purple markings it did not have before

I ended the day feeling pretty beat up both mentally (for other reasons) and physically. But on the other hand I am still smiling. I was great to ride and work with the kids and watch their confidence and progression. Guess we will have to go back :)

On a side note, how would you know if your hand is broken? It hurts like heck if I try to pick up anything or use it for much........

I asked today but they could not tell me. I guess we will see what the pictures tell us tomorrow. My money is on yes :(

That's too bad Chuck! I'd say overall the day was a great success. It was really awesome to see so many kids out and enjoying all different kinds of biking from slow, technical riding to fast, flowy jump lines. Personally it was my first time to Ray's and I had a blast; I'm hoping to have the XC bike built back up for the next time I go so I can really get the most out of some of the skinnies, etc.

Also, thanks to everyone who kept thinking I was the "expert" on jumping, foam pits, pump tracks, and whatnot. I'll try to live up to that title!  ;D

Well turns out I just did a really good job of messing up my hand. But nothing is broken. The doc made them take two sets of X-ray. She was convinced with the amount of swelling it was broken.

So just a brace and lots of pain meds for awhile. Back on the trails and jumping into foam pits again soon :) Niw to figure out how to snow bike with this brace on.
