Are there trails that still need to be stomped at CR? The mrs wants to go on her first snow shoeing excursion and I'm hoping to put her stomping to good use.
The Connector could use more stompin' traffic. Mainly the southern direction (Expert Woods toward Rockdale). There were large sections where I was the only track out there a couple of days ago. I have been out of town since and not gotten back. I would really like to see the Connector get packed as it would be a great winter ride. Rip N' Ride in the snow would be a blast!
I have not been on original loops at CR III yet, but driving by I do not see any tracks in the upper prairie sections of those trails as of a couple days ago.

That sound promising then, they should be fun to run with the shoes.  We'll probably start from CR3 and work the old loops backwards and maybe jump to the upper praire if the snow is relatively untouched up there.

    All systems go!
All reports are that the entire trail system is ridable with a fat bike. Creekside Connector and Expert woods with standard tires.
    And now I can't ride :-[

Went out for a ride last night and ended up spending an hour clearing down trees and debris from Woodchuck, Corkscrew, and Rattlesnake.  There are still 3-4 trees that need to be removed but most of them can be done with a hand saw.  There is one section that will probably need a chainsaw but will have to get a better look in the daylight.  I hope to get out Sat. morning and take care of what I can.

Thanks for your work out there Thom. I apparently got some bad information on the ridability of those trails. Obviously should be ridable now, but no one told me about the trees and debris being down. I should have known better, and I was suspect, as any section of woods after that big storm would be a mess. I guess I just wanted to believe the reports I got from riders. Maybe they were riding different trails than they thought they were?
Anyway, I especially appreciate the help now. I had a second evaluation after the Ray's accident. I have now been diagnosed with carpel tunnel in both hands/wrists. Braces on both and no more work on trails for awhile. Doc thinks I overdid it getting the Creekside Connector built and then working to clear trail after the big storm. So I am out of the trail maintenance business, and bike riding itself, for awhile :(

Went out for a little work and ride this morning and took care of a few things.

Removed 2 trees on IMBA Influence.
    Removed 2 trees on Veritas.
Removed 4 trees from the Outback.  It is now rideable from the start till just about the end where there's a tree down that will need some chainsaw work.  A smaller rider might be able to ride under it but was an easy walk under for me.
Removed 4 trees from Corkscrew and Rattlesnake.  There is one tree still needing some attention but can be ridden over.  Be careful though as it is on a short downhill section with a turn to the right afterwards.  You could easily end up over the handle bars.

The only sections I have not ridden would be Area 51 and the Cliff Edge loop.  All the other sections are rideable with the exception of the warm weather making most of it muddy.  I had to walk a lot of the hillside by CRIII to stay off the trail.

Anyone have a read on how icy it is now that everything refroze?  Thinking about heading over tomorrow (Monday), but my tire options are 40mm studded or 2.25" knobbies, so if it is icy and rough, I can't really ride it.

I was out at Quarry Ridge on Thursday, and honestly, it wasn't really enjoyable because it was so rough (people walking the trails), plus portions out in the sun were so icy I had to walk.

I got out this morning and it's a pretty rough ride.  Feels like one continuous rock garden.  Hard to keep any speed going when you're bouncing around so much.  The new Creekside connector isn't too bad but is a little icy.  All the traffic it gets compressed the snow so much that the hikers didn't sink as bad in the warm weather.
