I think this is exactly the sort of thing that CORP needs to be doing to increase our exposure. I will try to make it if I can.
I wish I could make it a family event, but we have other commitments going on. I will let you know if I can make it.

It would be awesome if I could count on someone to help me load things up at 2pm. With the surgery I should not be hoisting that heavy pop-up around. It should only take 5-10 minutes.

Things went pretty well.  I think attendance was down a little from previous years, likely due to the weather.  But we had a steady stream of folks through the booth, beginners wondering where to ride, a couple folks wondering about getting into racing, a few just thanking us for keeping the trails up.  The teeter-totter was, predictably, a big hit.  I have taken one to our block party a couple times, so I am well aware that if it is left un-supervised in the hands of 10-year-old boys it will not be long before it is turned into a catapult, so I knew to keep an eye on it.  I was not prepared, though, when a dad and his three- or four-year old son came up, right as I got set up at 10:00, and said, "Is this what I think it is?"  As I started to say, "I don't know, what do you think it is?", he stood his son on one end and jumped on the other.  The kid went up probably two feet and came down in a heap.  Before he could recover from the shock enough to cry, his dad picked him up and hustled off.  After that, I kept an even closer eye.  I was not expecting the 10-year-olds to come cleverly disguised as 40-year-olds.

I would definitely do it again, so keep it in mind when next June rolls around.  I don't know what kind of turn-out the west-side one (Aug. 18) will get, so I am not sure if it is worth doing or not.

A couple things that would make it better for us; a big, all weather banner; Chuck thinks there is one around somewhere, but if there isn't, we might want to look into getting one.  Also, the TTF's were worth having; people get a kick out of trying them, and they are attention grabbers.  If anyone has ideas for ones that are easy to transport and difficult to hurt oneself on, let me know.

I agree that the event went well, but that the large banner would have been ideal.  I think Chuck and I must have talked to at least a dozen people who were interested in CORP-one guy even asked us to take his picture next to the corp banner.

The ttfs were a hit, but we had some morons trying to use to teeter totter as a catapult launch as well.  Maybe just a simple ramp instead?

It might be worth sending someone to the Aug. 18 event if for no other reason than to plug CORPFEST the following weekend, seeing as we are trying to draw families and new riders.

I am around on the 18th, so could do it again.  It is hard to say what the turnout will be;  I was talking to someone who lives on the route, and they expect alot of people who live on or near the route to be out (it runs through much more residential areas than the downtown one does).  I am not sure how many people from other areas will end up riding.  But it isn't very expensive, nor is it much work, so it probably is worth it.

So the deadline to get into the August 18 event is August 1.  I am available the whole day, so can set up and take down.  I would need $50 for the registration fee, the CORP banner that is out at Cam-Rocks, and the club EZ-Up as long as someone is bringing stuff in from out there.  At that point I can do everything on my own.

It does occur to me that a lonely middle-aged guy on an antique mountain-bike may not be what we want to be be the face of the organization, so if a few of you all were able to stop by and hang out for a while, our $50 might be better spent.

I can't be there but will offer my ez-up again.  It's been repaired and is ready to go again.

The bike might be the latest in bling, but the engine is getting into the vintage category :D
