    Hey all,

Heading to the Kettle this Saturday for an early ride.  Tires on dirt at the Muir Trail Head at 7:30.  Planning on doing a long loop (Blue to Connector to Emma Carlin to Connector to finish on Blue).  This is about 30 miles these days.  Good pace with minimal stopping...some of us are training for a long race in a couple weeks.  We'll re-evaluate the time upon returning to the Muir trail head to see if there are more miles in store.

If this is something you're interested in, post up and we can decide if attempting to car pool is worth it.

    Otherwise, see you there!

John Muir trail system was closed as of Sunday. DNR hasn't updated the trail conditions report since then. Let's hope they update soon since the weather hasn't really improved much over the last few days.

    Bill,

I just listened to the report...only the "Southern loops" at the Muir trailhead were closed as of Sunday the 2nd.  Everything else at the Muir trailhead, the Connector and the Emma Carlin loops were still open.

I'm sure there will be another update going into tomorrow.

Listened to same message, not sure what the "Southern Loops" are, but I'm guessing it would be a portion (1-3 miles) of the blue trail that would be closed off.  The rest of it is open.

I'll bet the whole trail system will be open for riding tomorrow.

I think that's what south loops means too...the furthest south trail there is a short part of the blue loop.  We can make that up with a second trip around the orange if we need to.

I was there last weekend and can confirm that it was the green/blue that was closed. The first turn off, not far from the trailhead.  There is also one really muddy spot where they tried to culvert with PVC pipe and is no longer doing anything useful. I wouldn't be surprised if there is still standing water there. Probably 30 yards of unavoidable muck.

The rest of it (Rainy Dew, connector, Emma) were OK. Overgrown in many places, don't forget your eye protection, and check for ticks.

    Have fun!
