Sounds like we have enough interest to get this going. Originally I was thinking Quarry Ridge and to do it as an after work ride. Quarry seems to be the most centrally located park with enough features to get us going. But if we would like to make it a Saturday type of ride we can certainly go other places.

So the main question would be if we want to do this on a weekend or as a week night ride.

Nick has offered to lead....anyone else willing to lead some rides? Maybe we can break it out into beginner and more advanced?

Nick when would work best for you?

Created a poll to determine what the best day of the week is for this. If we are looking at weekends we do have a number of area events coming up:

    Saturday Events
    9/7 Badger Home Game
    9/14 - open
    9/21 - Badger Home Game
9/28 - Fall Color Fest at Kettle Moraine
    10/5 - open
    10/12 Badger Home Game
    10/19 - open
    10/25 - Bike Summit/Saris Gala
    11/2 - Open

The skillz ride last year was at cam rock.  Outback is brilliant for this.  Lots of options, many with no or minimal penalty.  We had a group of 10-15 people go through there are couple of times and we sessioned each feature as long as everyone wanted.  Many people succeeded in that environment for their first time on features like dragon back.  The original expert section in CRIII offers the big rock drop - and though many may not have even gone in there, I know that some would appreciate to watch how it's done and try when there are plenty of people around to help.  Afterwards we grilled brats at the shelter - I think I had two huge coolers full of beer for all to share.  We also had had people bring stuff they wanted to sell and we set it up on the picnic tables.

There's really not that much for a skills practice ride at quarry ridge and the elevation differences don't make for a good sessioning ride with different levels of skill and fitness.  Camrock is very forgiving like that and there are way more features to try.   FWIW.

I am currently working 10s so weekends are best. Saturday afternoons or Sunday mornings work best for me.

I would be willing to help lead some sessions as well. I may not be the most graceful, but I ride every feature CamRock has to offer on a regular basis.

If we decide to do it at CamRock. We need to decide where to congregate. I vote for meeting at the CORP garage in Cambridge. Easy to get to. We now have a grill. Fill a couple coolers with brews. Bring a couple of side dishes and we are set! It would also give folks a chance to see the garage and our new set up.

While I'm going to be too busy for the next few weeks to be a part of any rides, I'm going to toss my two cents in. I think any ride should incorporate more natural features than man-made. Why? Because most man-made features are optional on a trail whereas the natural features are usually directly on the rider's path. Log piles, rock drops, natural berms, exposed bench cut trail, and roots are all more common than even a 1 foot high TTF. I know the skills are pretty much transferable, but actually applying the skills can be difficult.

Put my vote in for a Sday ride. We have had good participation on Sundays in the past. Though Sunday mornings are out for me. We have done afternoon rides in the past and had really good attendance. Try for ending the ride in time for dinner on the grill.

I should be able to make it either day this weekend if we stay in town. Might bring the junk bike if I can find a new rim and front brakes. Otherwise the trust old Fisher 29er will have to do...

Pretty busy this weekend. Only time I would have is Saturday after the Badger game. Sunday is out. Whomever is organizing this thing it would be good to pick a date a couple of weeks out. We do too many things last minute.

I will lead one Sunday 10am, Camrock. I will also check my calendar and come up with some future dates that we can plan for.
