Thanks to Thom for riding last night. Conditions were great. I did take one dump crossing a dry creek bed but the bone contusions on my ankle and bruises on my shoulder and back won't stop me from doing it again.

I discovered that the rocks and roots are even easier to recognize in complete darkness if you have a good headlamp.

Get out and ride before the leaves fall and hide the rocks and roots.

Yeah Bear! It was a typical ride. I was swearing over and over that I need a 29er to roll over everything. We made it to the far side of the Mound before it was dark. I forgot how rocky Home Stretch was. Thank God for state of the art lighting technology!

A 29er might help a little but what you really need to do is just ride there more often. Once you have the more challenging lines memorized it's a little easier.

Glad you had a good ride despite the crash.

You can sort of split the difference now. I noticed Trek put the new models up on their site.

I've been renting 29rs this summer but my last Holy Schist backwards ride and the new bumps at CamRock have wanting to try the new Remedy models. A little bit of lumber truck and playful in the same rig would be nice because it's not in the cards for me to have both size wheels.
