So, details of my annual pilgrimage north:
Saturday, head north, hit a lap of everything at Underdown before noon.  Got lost near the end last time, hopefully I won't repeat that.  Drink some coffee.  Keep heading north.
Pitch camp at Copper Harbor Saturday evening.  Pick up a growler from Brickside.
Sunday, head up stairway to heaven and start my day on the RIP 9.   Pick up a growler from Brickside  ;D.  Sleep under the stars and forget about everything in the universe.
Monday, get the shuttle up.  Ride The Flow until I can't stand it anymore.  Until I'm bored with it or hurt or can't see straight.  Take photo of permanent grin.   Pick up a growler from Brickside  ;D.  Drive to Houghton, pitch camp.  Lube chain and repair shit with electrical tape etc just like last year.
Tuesday, ride everything within my ability at michigan tech.  Heard about the new flow trail, trying to meet Dave McCloud as a tour guide.  Then drive home.
Wednesday, arrange surgery to have permanent grin removed.  Or broken limbs amputated, depending on my status.

I hope you're still upright, Scot! That's an epic adventure. Sounds a bit lonely, though.  :)

Just finished day 3 of riding (2nd day of copper harbor).  Still upright, only mishap was wheels going out from under me on a wet wood feature (bottom of the zig-zaggy bridges on In The Edge of all places and broke exactly the same shifter pod clamp that broke last time i was here!) I'm exhausted and yeah, I don't mind riding alone and have met and ridden with some cool folks, but camping alone is getting old already.   Trying to decide if I should stay one more night to hit Michigan tech or not.

Wish I could have been there with you to keep you from being lonely ;) Glad the trip is going well! Safe travels when you head back.

You'd think they'd do something about the slick wood features. They are so slippery when wet...almost unrideable. I don't have any suggestions other than a shellac or heavy polyurethane with some grit in it. And I bet that would wear away fairly quickly. Hmmm....
