    Global Fabike Day

This coming Saturday, the 7th, is Global Fatbike Day. It's a day for fatbikers to get together and ride---as if we need an excuse  ;D. We could get together here at the Farm and get a fire going in the pit to warm ourselves by. But it is going to be COLD, predicted highs mid teens.
What is the status of Camrock Cafe? Was thinking if they are opened again, maybe riding Camrock would be a better alternative. A good bite to eat and possible a warm drink to warm the inners after a cold ride sounds awful appealing to me. Good way to welcome the new owners also.   :)
What do you guys think. Start riding at noonish or 1 at the warmest part of the day. Thoughts ?

Greg you are my hero. Always thinking! I Missed this one. I think you have a good plan going for CamRock.
I can speak to CamRock Sport & Cafe. The current plan is to be open on Thursday this week. For sure by Friday, as this weekend is a huge weekend in a Cambridge. It is Cambridge Country Christmas. A huge weekend in Cambridge with carolers roaming Main Street, horse drawn sleigh (wagon) rides, and yes even chestnuts roasting on an open fire!
It should be perfect for the riders and non-riders as well. Or if it's too cold and you cut your ride short there will be lots going on in Cambridge. I think CamRock Sport is planning on some music as well. At the very least a great place to warm up after the ride, and get a hot toddy as well.
You should see their line up of Trek bikes they will have for rental/demo! It is pretty impressive. Unfortunately no Farley's, at least not yet.
You lay down the plan Greg and I will be there.

So what is the plan, or preference for Saturday? I am torn.

I would love to get together with the gang of gnome-chasers over at the south Kettles: http://forums.mtbr.com/minnesota-wisconsin/global-fat-bike-day-southern-wisconsin-2013-a-889201.html And I have gotten a personal invite from a couple of folks over there.

But it will also be the second day that CamRock Sport is open and I would love to support them. Also standing around a fire to stay warm in the cold they are predicting might not cut it. Hanging out at a nice cafe after the ride with some hot chocolate and schnapps sounds a lot warmer! In the evening they will also have some music and other specials going on through the day.

Another option is we could go riding at Kettles and when it gets too dang cold head back to CamRock Sport? It is on the way back for most folks.

What say you? Or with temps below 20 does it mean you aren't riding no matter how good the drinks and camaraderie are?

I was hoping for a little more input from other fatbikers on what to do for Global Fatbike Day. Yes Rick, I was aware of the Kettles ride before I started this thread. I don't know if everyone saw the weather forcast and decided to stay home or what. Come on fatbikers, our bikes were designed to be ridden in the cold. Take off your skirt and let's have some fun.  ;D

After Chuck's last post I talked to him and this is our plan. We plan to head down to the Kettles for the group ride that starts at 11. Figure we'll be riding for an hour and a half or so, hang out a bit, and then head back to Cambridge about 2 -2:30. Grab a bite to eat at the Camrock Cafe and relax a bit. Hopefully we'll feel ambitious enough to go out and do a lap or two at Camrock around 3-3:30. Then back to the Cafe for whatever.  :)

You're all welcomed to join us  8)

Though a bit on the chilly side, that is why God made fat bikes, warm clothing, and alcohol. Put that all together and you have a fun day in the making!

Joining the gang of gnome-hunters over at the S Kettles should be a good time. And if you can't make that come on out in the afternoon and help us welcome the new owners of CamRock Sport & Cafe, Derek and Sherrie Nelson, to more fun and frivolity.

We hope to be back there by mid afternoon and still have the gusto for another ride at CamRock before dark. They will have a warm fire going, the heat turned up, and warm drinks flowing. It will be good to be back in the fun that is CamRock Sport. They will also have music going on in the cafe. So come on out! Check out the impressive line up of Trek bikes for rentals, and all of the new tweaks they are putting in the shop. Even of you can't muster up for riding In the cold come on out for the fun and frivolity. I promise not to razz you too much ;) Maybe.....

Though it is Global Fat Bike Day, at least for the CamRock part all bikes are welcome! We will try not to dazzle you with fat bike our superiority ::) There should not be any snow on the trials, and they will be hard as a rock with the temperatures. Certainly ridable on any bike. Bring your cross bike or city bike and be the ying to the fat bike yang ;D
I am not sure if there are bike requirements for the South Kettles gathering....

CamRock Sport will have a fat bike to rent if someone needs one. A Moonlander for the fattest tires around. Though it is a large frame so it definitely would not work for me ::)

So who is in and who is out for tomorrow? And for what parts of the day? Does anyone want to carpool from Cambridge to the S Kettles event? Should meet at CamRock Sport about 10a if you want to carpool.
If you are coming for the CamRock ride we will meet up at CamRock Sport in the afternoon. Plan to ride about 3p, and be back before dark. If you don't have lights it is not a worry. If you don't have warm clothes it is time to head south ;)
