More trail will be a benefit in the snow, at the expense of dirt handling, IMHO.

I'd say opt for the 2.0 if you can swing the extra cost.  In my experience, a 1x9 set up with a 33 tooth ring isn't low enough for the snow.  In fact, I'd get the 2.0 and promptly swap the 28/38 rings for a pair that's smaller.

My fear with the 1.0 would be that the cranks don't have tabs for a granny ring and you're looking at upgrading the cranks as soon as you get it out on snow.

Also, don't overthink it too much.  Pick a size based on the TT length of your current bike, and maybe go slightly smaller to gain some standover.  I bought a bike that's slightly too big because it was a good deal on CL.  It's working, but my next fatty will be smaller.

You'll learn to ride the bike you have.

Thanks for all the advice.  I was also worried about a 33t ring being too large and impossible to swap out for something smaller.  I went ahead and bought the 16" 2.0 - should ship by the end of the month.

FWIW: I am 5' 8" as well. I have the 9:ZERO:7 in a small, 16". From their charts I am in between sizes, but leaning strongly toward the medium. I am glad I went with the small. I like the compact frame. Sloves any standover height issues as well.
I agree with others on the trail. You can't overdue it for the sand or snow. Unless maybe you were riding on really hard-packed snow trail? Only an issue for speed on dirt as I see it.
I think you made a wise choice. I also can't wait to see it on the trail! Looks like a real solid choice. Good specs for the price. Nice to see these affordable options for folks to get into the fat bike scene.
One of these weekends I will be around, we will have 20 degrees and sunshine, and we can get a good group ride going out here. With lots of libations at CamRock Sport to follow!
