BMX track open exclusively for MTB Mondays(now Wednesdays)

    March 28, 2012, 11:28 AM

    Hey All,
We at the Greater Madison BMX venue would like to announce "Big Wheel Night"- new for the 2012 season. The BMX track and surrounding hills are open on Monday nights for open practice and riding from 5:30-8:00pm.  The cost is $5.00  We are in need of a few volunteers from CORP group along with our volunteers to make this a smooth and safe deal for everyone. Any MTB, fixie, etc. 24" wheel & up can ride. Now- if your 6 yr.old has his/her smaller BMX bike- that's fine too. If you are interested in helping out, please email me at  contact@madisonbmx.com

The only rules are that everyone has a helmet, long sleeves (&/or elbow pads) and long pants (at least past the knee)- no exceptions! You must also have a great time and tell your friends!! Pass it on, post it on your Facebook, twitter, etc.

In order to be covered by our insurance policy at the facility, all riders must have a current USA BMX membership, which is either $2 for a one time trial one-day; $25 for a 30-day; or $45 per year. You then can race/ride/practice any bike at over 300 BMX tracks throughout the USA and Canada (9 tracks within 4 hrs. drive).  ;D

If the excitement and participation is great enough, we are hoping to also turn this Monday night into a Four-Cross racing night along with practice session beforehand. So- let's hear your opinions and suggestions here! This is for all ages from 6 to 60+. Bring the whole family and friends! All the info can be seen at our website www.madisonbmx.com
    Thanks! See ya'll there- starting May 14th  :o :o

I can ride my fixie on a bmx track!  Is it smooth enough for my 700c tires?

It doesn't start until May.  It does sound like a fun way to spend a Monday night and $10 though.

IF you want to ride the track- stop on out tonight- and bring some buddies! This is a trial basis and if there is not enough interest, then it might not last. Mondays are for MTB's! Spread the word-pass it on! Tonight 5:30-8:00. $5

It would be nice if your trial would last until school's out, and any suggestions for kids safety gear would be a good idea too. I can speak from experience that our Tuesday sessions at bike park are difference once school is out.

    Thanks.

Sounds good guys! Suggested safety gear would include helmet (mandatory), elbow and shin pads, long sleeves and pants below the knee. We have a few full-faced loaner helmets too if needed.

Taking a poll: what day would be better for you- Monday or Wednesday nights? We are having a hard time getting volunteers for Mondays, so we might combine into one Wednesday practice for mtb, 4x & bmx.
