    What are you drinking?

    September 30, 2013, 04:30 PM

I brewed with extract the first time, then switched to all-grain and haven't looked back. It's more fun and you get a much better beer. Here's my set up in action last Sunday.

I was thinking about a similar set up. Is that a bayou classic burner?

Yup, that's a bayou classic. This pic is from the backside, I have thermometers on both pots and the mash tun is 10 gallons which has been big enough for everything I've made. 5 gallons would be too small for most of what I make. I'm heating the sparge water in this pic so I don't have any of the tubing attached yet, but you get the idea. The stand is from Menards, I just cut bits out to fit the cooler in and still be able to open the top. I use the BeerSmith software to calculate temps and help building recipe and have been very happy with it. I could attach more detailed pics of the filter I use in the mash tun if you're interested.

Quite possibly one of the best beers I've had.  Certainly the best beer I've tried this year.

Sue is goooooooooood. So are a bunch of their other beers. Luckily my hometown isn't too far from there and it's on the way home now that we're in WI. Good excuse to stop by the tap room every once in a while...   :D   They've had very good beer since they opened, I saw they delivered bottles to La Crosse but that was it for WI lately....

I'm a big fan as well! Citra is my favorite hops for my homebrew IPA's.

Was good with a heavy beef and fall-themed dinner but the iconoclasts are not my first choice for "have a beer".
