    Dear trail and parks users,

Please join your fellow trail supporters at the Middleton License Ordinance Committee meeting that starts 6 PM Tuesday March 8, 2016 at Middleton City Hall. See #9 on the agenda.

The issue is a referral from Common Council to update the Pleasant View Golf Course Committee Ordinance to include the Golf Course assuming primary responsibility for the 305-310 acres of land owned by the city (CC 02/02/16).

Our concern: A portion of the Pleasant View property is and always has been parks and conservancy land. The coalition of skiers, bikers, snow shoe hikers, bird watchers and event managers who support and maintain these areas want Pleasant View conservancy and parklands to remain managed by the Middleton PRFC Parks, Recreation & Forestry Commission.

The linked information below gives a history of city documents, public meetings, trail corridor and site images.

Thank you to those who showed up for support, and helped carry on CORP business afterward.

It's not just this trail site. Anyone who puts a tire on dirt around here needs to be thankful for the class of rider who takes the time to do it. Any who don't consider making it their turn should look in the mirror.

Results: The city attorney determined Middleton's golf committee is advisory and has no legal authority to manage the trails we use. This will be studied and likely show up at the city council on the whole. The golf course debt from original land purchase remains. There's good reason for anyone who wants income and that debt to be paid.

In the meanwhile watch for the CORP spring work days and help Trail Steward Garrett with some adjustments that will help our relationship with golfers.

If you have not ridden in this area since Sept 2015 you need to join Blackhawk Ski Club and do it. You've got a great 7-14 mile MTB ride.

    Thanks again.
