In March 2018, the WI DNR was sent a request by local and state snowmobile clubs to initiate a master plan amendment or revision for Blue Mound State Park to establish recreational trail use, including a snowmobile route through the park. On June 27, the Natural Resources Board voted to begin a master plan
revision for Blue Mound State Park.
This process is more involved than the amendment that was proposed in 2015, approved in 2016, re-approved in 2017, and ultimately nullified in court.
According to
NR 44, a plan revision can result in changes to goals and objectives for the property. The DNR estimates that plan revisions are generally completed in 1.5 to 2 years.
