It going to be another great weather weekend for trail building! As in, it will be too wet to ride, so you might as well come on out and put some love back into the trails you love to ride ;)

And the more work we get done tomorrow, the more we can make the trails better in marginal conditions, and the sooner after a rain they will be open for riding. We  need to do both repairs and general maintenance on some of the areas that are staying wet now after the rest of the trail is dry. Getting these areas taken care of properly means more and better riding throughout the upcoming riding season.

General Plan for tomorrow morning: We will have a group with Dave to finish Beer Run. Hopefully we get enough folks so another group can give some of the older trail TLC: Fix corners holding water. Clean out drains that are full of leaves and debris so they are not draining water off the trail. Etc.

General Plan for Sunday: We will re-evaluate after tomorrow and see what the priorities are. Definitely more TLC on the trails.

Alterra Coffee from CamRock Sport at 7:45a both Saturday and Sunday. Free meal and beverages after the Trail Days at Heather's. For the rest of details see the post at the top of this thread.

Hope to see you there at least one of the days to give back to the trails 8)

Alright who else is a little hungover and REALLY tired, raise your hand. A little too much birthday celebrating and breaking in our newest place to hang out, CamRock Sport last night :-[

Ah well. We are gettin' at it. It is going to be a great day. It will be perfect for Trail Building this morning. And I would say grab your bikes if you want to. We got just a sprinkling of rain overnight, on top of lots of rain the day before. But I would guess by this afternoon we should be good to go. We will certainly know once we get intimate with the dirt this morning.

Hope to see a bunch of you folks out at CamRock 3 soon!

OK we had a great building day today, and we should have another one tomorrow! Not a lot of folks made it out today, but the folks who did got after it. BIG thanks you for everyone who took the time out of their busy daily life to give something back to the trails.

We moved a couple tons of dirt, moved a whole lot more rocks, build some more walls, made a lot of trail adjustments to help the berms shed water, learned how to build a proper berm, and by the end of the day we actually opened Beer Run. I have not ridden it yet, so I can't give you a report, but man it looks like fun. The trail is not completed quite yet, but it is open. We still have the return berm to complete at the bottom of the run, a drop filter/feature to put in, and some buffing and armoring to do near the top of the trail.

Again, THANK YOU to everyone who made it out today. And I hope to see some more folks at CamRock III at 8a tomorrow morning for more fun. You will have a chance to learn how to do a proper nick, grade reversals, rolling grade dips, and more ;) And all of this will mean less muddy trail and better riding all summer long. This is my kind of fun ;D

I woke up about 10:30 this am to a thunder storm.  So I turned off my alarm clocks and went back to bed!

Chuck are you coming to madison anytime soon so I can get you some posters and brochures?

Well today was pretty much a bust. Gotta give big props to John for coming down from Oconomowoc for the trail day. Yes the lone soldier who showed up. We got after it and built a couple of nice water removal features. I figured a couple of laggards would show later :-\

Then the storms moved in. We thought the line would pass so we headed to CamRock Sport for a nice tasty breakfast beer. Nothing like a brew at 9:30 in the morning ::) Well once that lined passed, the next line of storms came through. Then another. So we had another. And after an hour of trail building we were done for the day. But we got to hang at CamRock, John got the meet the cool folks there, and sample some of their wares. So I will look on the optimistic side and say it was not a total bust. I had an enjoyable morning anyway :)

The down side is we still have a lot of just general trail maintenance that needs to get done to keep these trails sustainable for this riding season. We will need to set up some evening trail days or something or we will be dealing with closed trails a lot. We have some general drainage areas that need to be cleaned to get water off the trails. Never mind some eroded areas in the prairies we need to be dealing with. Berming those prairie trails, though it would be really cool, seems like a pipe dream at this point.

FYI: All the trails are closed for now. See trail Conditions tab. We got over 2" of rain today on top of 3/4" on Friday. More rain is predicted Monday and Tuesday. It is going to take awhile to dry up.

I am going also going to close Beer Run for awhile after the rest of the trails open. That new trail and especially those new berms are going to need some time to dry before they are firm again. They did not get a chance to get armored in yet :(

At least the forecast as of this morning looks good for a sunny week of dry weather.

Yeah it is not all doom and gloom. Though we are starting out wet again this morning.

A few folks with Rogue Hoes could get a lot of the water issues repaired in a few hours. That is my #1 concern. Both to get the spots that stay wet after rains dry, and so those wet areas don't become bigger issues down the road. These areas are mainly in the older trails. My second priority would be to get rid if the rutted section in the prairies.
