I thought you were talking about the courses. How about hanging a map and highlighter in the storage closet.
Marking what I was able to scout today right now. I will try to get it in the storage area tomorrow afternoon before I am off to Chucky Cheese for the birthday party.

I am going to hang three maps: Step One for trails to mow. Step Two for trails to use loppers or the trimmer on. Step Three for blowing the detrius off after everything else is completed.

Just got an update from racer I trust. We need to run the skhil trimmer and knock down long weeds in all the main trails that run through the park. I'm talking the long dripping ones. I'll mow prairie with dr mower and then my mower in the passing lanes tomorrow.

We need this done By wednesday to stay on schedule.

I'll be out from about 8am to noonish on Thursday. Come on guys this is bullshit that Tom is directing this race and putting in a second job's worth of time to prep for this! This single race brings in so much for the club. Heck a ditchwitch, cool riding parties, a couple bags of lime so I can finally get that dead hooker out of the trunk of my car....

Either way, help the man, help the club. The possibilities are endless. Lets get er done. I can provide access to any equipment folks need just give me a ring at 608=515=4080.

    Dave,

Thanks for stroking the fire. We just need a good day of work and we will be back on track.

After the ride last night it is obvious that the focus needs to be on the Connector. Once again it is out of control, and this is not the time for that. We need things spiffed up as soon as possible to look good for this weekend. There are already racers coming to check out the course and they are not getting good trails to ride. This will also make a much better ride for all of us. It is hard to ride when you can't see the trail ;)

Other than that the park is in good shape. One little spot on Veritas that needs 5 minutes of attention, but Thom or I will get to that. And parts of Cliff Edge and Beer Cave need a trim, but they are not part of the race.

I agree, other than the connectors, the rest of the trails seemed totally fine. But, I'm no high-brow racer with big expectations, either. I never once felt like the trail was slowing me down yesterday. Even the tall grass on the connectors isn't the end of the world. Guess we should have been working and not riding last night, huh? Sorry, I'll shut up now.   :-X

I say no. If all we do is work then we are not having fun and then what is the point of biking?

If everyone could get out for just a couple of hours one night this week things will be spiffed up in no time. On the tall grass I think Tom got the worst of it yesterday. Before yesterday it was hard to stay on trail through Mayor's Playground.

Besides, last night was a scouting ride to check the trail conditions ;) I think we did that well. We rode the whole course at least once and confirmed that the prep work needs to be concentrated on the Connector.

All trimmers and mowers are ready to go. All the fuel containers are full. All systems go to get CamRock in shape for her big date.

I trimmed from the Round-About to the small 2x10 board crossing after the open field in Mayor's Playground.  I also hit the Beer Cave trail on the way out.

Tonight I'm riding.  The next time I can come out to trim is Thursday after work around 5:00.  I took a vacation day Friday just in case we are not quite done yet.  If everything looks good by Friday,  I may just try and get in a 30 mile ride in at Kettles.

I will be out there this morning to check things out. I am going to try and get some mowing or trimming done mid-day, depending on what needs it most.

Bruce Pedrick is hard at it as I write this.

Mike Meccia will be out shortly to get after it.

I met with Dane County Parks staff to discuss parking and mowing issues this morning. They are really great to us and doing everything they can to help make this a great event. If you see them out there give them a big Thank You!

I am off to do some more scouting.

Who is going to take their place running equipment when they are to tired to go any more?
