@ Dave - I forgot about Baskerville....that one is brutal.

If the fun spreads over to Monona, I'd be interested.  My commute gives me the miles but not the cardio and I find WAY too many excuses not to do it myself.

Bill, where do you commute to, and do you live in Monona?  I commute from Monona out to the City of Fitchburg, almost all Cap City Trail, rather lucky that way - showers too.

did you guys ride this morning?  I had rubber rolling at 6:30 heading west, it was a nasty head wind, especially the fixed gear - good workout.

Had Dave pushed the idea I would have gone, but I wasn't going to be the driver for a second day in a row. It's way too far out to count on, but the forecast for next week is looking good so for now it's on for next Tuesday.

Did a little spin at lunch today and somehow seemed to get that headwind for about 75% of a loop, not sure how that works :P

Dave - sounds like we live near each other but commute in different directions. I live next to MG high school. I work in Middleton so my commute is a mix of cap city, lakeshore, and roads. Headwind this morning sucked but I might make it home without even pedaling.  ;D

The weather is in spec tomorrow for some early morning two wheel torture. Do any of the Monona guys want to show off the hills in your neck of the woods?  If not I was thinking of hitting the arb again, mostly because it's going to be pretty dark from the time chage, but instead of repeats on just the hill this time it will be a time trial from end to end. Should be able to squeeze in two runs in each direction for a total of 4 intervals, that might be tight for time (guessing it takes about 9 minutes each way), so we can shorten it up a bit if that seems like an issue.

As always I'm open to other suggestions, with abundance of deer and turkey riding through the arb at full speed in the dark may not be the best idea, so if someone knows of a nearby area with low traffic and few intersections let me know.

with the nice forecast, my plan is to commute all week.  I will put something together shortly though.  Need to put my all weather tires on the road bike this week as well.

I picked up a proper road bike at bike-o-rama and it's been difficult adjusting to riding something with relatively fragile tires. I don't normally pay much attention to what my touring tires are rolling over so it's been exhausting watching out for every little anomaly, it feels like a flat is always lurking around the corner.

for sure, I always toss on my Bontrager Race Lites All Weather 700/23 triple protection, they work nice.  Its all the crap that gets pushed off the in town roads that has been there all winter that eats up the thinner tires.

What did you buy Rich?  Can you fit 28mm tires in it?  Get some Continental Gatorskins in the biggest size that will fit.  Specialized makes various models of tires with the Armadillo treatment too that are nice and tough.
