OK lets make this Saturday an official ride your bike and have fun day!
Global Fat Bike Day. CamRock Fire Festival. Cambridge Country Christmas. Two, yes two, Group rides. And a Trail Day. Can we fit any more into one day?

Well check it out and you will see the day is jam packed. If you don't find something fun to do this Saturday on a bike, or just enjoying the Christmas Season, then you must be trying hard not to. The day starts at 9a with free spin classes. And it ends at 8p with post-ride beverages and free music. In between are Madrigal Singers, roasting chestnuts, horse-drawn hayrides, Madison Area Music Associations Best New Artist (free), wreath making, cookie walk, a visit from Santa, and a whole park full of Christmas lights. Basically more to do than I can list here, or that you could possibly do in a day. And tons of the fun is either free or pretty darn cheap. I am wondering how you can go wrong?

From Jeff Knops, purveyor of CamRock Sport: "Fire Fest this Saturday is now adding Global Fat Bike Day to the proceedings. To celebrate this auspicious day we will be doing trail work from noon - 2:00 followed by a bike ride on the CamRock 3 trail leaving from the CamRock Cafe & Sport.  Followed by beer, food and music at the CamRock Cafe & Sport and another ride at 5:30.  Anyone helping with the trail or doing either ride will get themselves a free pint of Ale Asylum and our eternal gratitude (cool, right?)."

These are the main things for those of us that plan to ride. Please come on out and join in the fun for any part you can make. Trail work will be light. No moving dirt this weekend :) Just polishing the trail. Trimming branches, mowing, putting up signs, etc for a couple of hours. Then time to ride and have some fun! If you can only make it our to ride please do so. Bring your souse, family, whatever. Cambridge will truly be a great place to be for all this weekend!

    Keg is on ice.

I just got off the trails. They are In awesome shape. Way better than I expected. The riding is going to be spectacular. Temps will be In the high 50's. In December? Amazing. You are crazy if you have the chance and don't make it out to ride.

And don't sweat the trail work day. If you can make it great. Wr can use the help. If you can only make the ride, show up for the ride. If you have to make it a family day and a ride or trail work is not in the cards. Come on out and enjoy the Christmas festivities and say Hi at CamRock Sport.

The amount and unique ways that CamRock Sport is going to be displaying fire tomorrow will be very cool. Wooden torches. Flaming stumps. Bikes on fire. A bonfire. And many more. And I can't wait to see the Ruebens tube in action!

Free beer. Free live music. Cheap biking gear. (Two reps will be there).  And lots of fire. How do you go wrong?

Thanks to everyone who came out last Saturday. I know this is a late report, but that has been life lately.

We had a good group out for Global Fat Bike Day / CamRock Fire Festival. Appropriately we got a good solid couple of hours in polishing up the new Fat Bike trail heading south from Cambridge. It is definitely ridable as it is. We had a couple of mowers working solid along with folks cleaning trail and doing buffing on the major bumps in the trail. The trail is definitely much better for the effort.

I had to run to another charity event (ringing the bell for Salvation Army), but the rest of the folks mounted up and headed out for a ride. Shortly after the start the sky opened up and the rain showers started. Luckily the gang managed to get a good ride in as the new trail is still grass covered. They also hit up some of the sweet doubletrack, checking out the trails across the new bridge at CamRock II.

Following the fun the beverages were flowing back at CamRock Sport. The free Ale Asylum got things started off nicely. And $2 Ale Asylum the rest of the evening kept it flowing for the rest of the evening. Between the flowing beers and the drizzly weather the night ride was voted down. We certainly could, and probably should, have gotten a nice doubletrack ride in. But the fires were warm, the beer was cold, and the camaraderie was enjoyable. In other words we were too lazy to go back out ;)

A fun day to be sure. Hopefully many more good rides and events to go this winter season :)
