Thus, the snow bike era concludes.  ;D

Break out the skinny tires, boys, winter's over!  :'(
Just had to repost this as It makes me giggle. I know you just wanted it to be over so you would not want to buy one. But we're still riding :)

A bit of water at CamRock!
Pics from two days ago. Most of this had ice covering again today. And the creek is down about 6". Still four to five feet above normal.

The small bridge put in to CamRock I is somewhere under all this water. Basically the new Creekside trail is closed between the two bridges. Skip to CamRock I and jump back on by the trail there. It is perfect from there to the south end.
A couple of other stretches in here are slightly under water. May be better by today.

To sum up: Got out a couple of times this week. Monday night was crazy. Warm and raining. Scouted the trail to see what was above water. Results in previous posts above. Trail still firm with a little slush in spots. Crazy to be out next to the creek when it is a couple of inches from overtopping the banks.

Tonight things were frozen with a fresh inch on top. The north and south section of Creekside that are open are firm and a good ride. The main gravel trail between the first bridge and the CamRock I shelter is the same. IMBA Influence and  Veritas are a challenge but rideable. A couple of inches of crust over a firm base.
Outback was a real challenge. Not much of a base there after the last couple of storms. Managed to get through. Some pushing in spots.
I found the Cannonball (prairie) Connector to be unrideable. Again just to much snow since it was last packed so no real base.

Overall Creekside is rideable with the center bypass anytime. Overall best to get out when it is cold. If you can get out early one of these real cold mornings you might find bomber snow! That is a real treat as with a fatty you are able to ride anywhere you want. No trail needed :)

Emory and I got out for ride today. I was pretty surprised we were the only ones out on the trails today. It was a gorgeous day with sunshine and great trails. And even ice to break and fun to be had for Emory trailside. The geese, deer, and some migrating birds are out. They know spring has to come eventually. We even saw a well eaten otter that filled the belly of some other creature.

The flooded areas are no longer under water. The small bridge is still there! Frozen in under the ice. It looked dicey but we took a chance and crossed. Worst case was to break through and be in a foot of water and mud. Neither happened and the ice held.

So I would call all the trials open and ready to ride at this point. Everything we hit was rideable. But we did not get south of the Expert Woods with Emory on a snowbike and lots of side trips for fun. Some ice on the trails. But nothing too slippery at this point.
