I know this is getting old for everyone. I mean all we want to do is ride! Is that too much to ask?
Last night we had another round of 2 1/2" of rain. 1/2" the day before. And another 2 1/2" Saturday night. This is well over 10" of rain in the last two weeks. It is going to be a little while until the trails are open.

We got caught in a bit of a tough spot. We have new trails that have not had time to properly armor yet (pack hard to get the nice hard water and erosion resistant surface) and now everything has reached the saturation point. These soils need to dry enough to be ready for tire traffic.

Outback is a great example of this. It never was dry enough this spring to get traffic on tacky soils and get the surface armored. Too many riders were on it when it was wet and closed. Now the trails are holding water and it needs to completely dry down before it will be ready to open again. Everything is a complete swamp out there.

I hate being the bearer of bad news, but unfortunately it is going to be a bit for CamRock. I am just happy we were able to get the Battle of CamRock run, and be open to some riding the last few weeks. It was a good Monday night ride last night. Though frankly the trails were a bit on the wet side with soils reaching saturation. Now we will likely need a few days of dry weather once the rain stops to get the trails ready again. We need some good drying weather. Pray for dry warm and breezy weather to get us back on the trails soon!

Lots of rain in Verona, more is expected.

Here is how I rolled this evening. Over 6 miles. Lots of fun.

You need to look at things in terms of opportunities.

The original pump track took a summer to tune and then be the first place you could ride after rain. Last night a few of us started on that with the new section, and used the muck-like characteristics to fix and re-shape some things that were ignored for a while.

Hopefully dry enough for some chain saw time in a steep place tonight.

    :)

Yeah I guess on the plus side, the places where erosion is a problem should stand out more. :P

I'm really not looking forward to checking out Blue Mounds. Aside from the flooding, there are the mosquitoes, weeds, and fallen trees to consider.

Just an FYI. CamRock Parks are closed. Yes the entire park system. All entrances.
I have lived here for 15 years now and never seen this. Water is across the lawn at Heather's and the creek is still rising. The main trail is washed out south of Cambridge. We have received over a foot of rain in Rockdale over the last two weeks.
And like Gary said, with the ground now being saturated and no root support, trees are starting to topple over. Whenever the trails do open up again there will need to be some scouting to make sure trails are clear. And we will need to be careful for awhile as more could come down over the next couple of weeks with deep soil moisture levels.

Many of the farmers I talk to in the central part of the state have missed a lot of this rain. Particularly the Fox River Valley area. Not so sure about the Wausau area. I would personally love to hit Levis. Sandy soils, it might be OK.

And yes the CamRock trails will be closed for a bit. Prolly not good when there is a rapids formed across the trail...

Those trail signs are obviously miss labeled. In addition to the snowbiking, mountain biking, snowshoeing, and hiking, we need to add kayaking :D

Are the trails at least open for swimming or would you prefer us to stay off completely?

     :P

I do have a new bathing suit I'd like to try.

    ~ C'mon, lets go for a whirl

Personally I wish I had the time to do some kayaking! A number of folks were kayaking the creek last night. Though I would be very careful with the speed and sheer power of the creek.
I just want to kayak down the trail and get a picture by the trail sign ;D
