    All

Casual weekly ride to start at Quarry park this Thursday 8/1.  Show up every Thurs for some fast and mellow good times.  Start at 5:30 for now,  we may push it up.

WE will be working on post ride beers.

Come this Thurs to ride,  bring friends,  bring those wanting to get better.....

Any questions let us know.  Stay tuned for another trail day when the city gets us dirt.

I'll be leading the inaugural ride this week.  Just a note though, *Quarry Ridge* has a separate work-n-ride going on the same night and they need some help this week to clean up some specific stuff, so get out there if you can.  If you only have time for a quick fix then I'll see you at Quarry Park!

Indeed there will be an effort to pump the Quarry Ridge work effort on Aug 1st once the BOD meeting is behind us.

We successfully avoided drawing riders from the Quarry Ridge, not a sole showed up at Quarry Park :) .  I rode around a bit and then did some general trimming and used a weed whacker to clear out some raspberry bushes that would be overlapping the trail soon. The big Oak on the south end of the park had already been mostly cleared out.

Dan and I would like to make this a regular weekly work/ride so we'll start trying to promoting it more.  Could this go on the official calendar?

Maybe Bob W will resume his former job of tour guide with printed business cards and all? I really miss those back in the day Quarry Rides.

My Thursdays are occupied with the Blackhawk Youth program but, but I hope to join when they're done.

Good luck, and I hope to see all of you at the next CORP meeting or a dirt Tuesday if nothing else.

Again, good luck and thanks for giving the place some love.

I will try to make it over sometimes;  may try to get some neighborhood kids to come, too (10-12 yr olds) so if anyone else wants to bring the whole family, let me know.  It is always an easier sell if other kids will be there.

Also, I stumbled across the fact that Revolution Cycles has a Thursday night MTB ride; according to the guy I talked to, they get up to 15 riders and go to different spots every week; might be worth talking to someone there.

I'm going to be in Chicago for work on Thursday but should be able to make it back in time to lead up another work-n-ride on Thursday (8/8) at 6pm. I'll know around mid afternoon if I'll be able to make it.

I ride right past there most days on the way to campus and back. I might be able to make it tomorrow, never knew there were trails in there until last night.

There's a pretty substantial amount of trail back there but it's hard to connect it all together if you're not familiar with it, riding with some regulars is the best introduction to the system.

Where is the best entry point and where do the rides normally meet? I'm guessing a quick ride around the park would tell me but never been there yet...

There are two gates in the park, at the east and west ends, the east end is where people typically park and meetup.  If no one is there just head into the park and tool around, it's a small space and chances are you'll cross paths with the group pretty quickly.

I should be there this evening, with a few neighborhood kids, but not until 6:30 or so.

That's great Jon, I'm on the way back to Madison now but traffic in Chicago slowed us down so I'll probably be arriving at QP a bit after 6.

Had nice time at QP last night. Cyclones30, Garrett, and Jon showed up along with a couple other first timers that we toured around the park with.  Jon had a group of the next generation of riders in tow, three neighborhood girls who were tearing around the pump track even though one was barely old enough to pedal a bike! As is always the case at Quarry we probably chatted more than we rode but that's half the fun of 'riding' there.

We took out a downed tree on the main path along with a couple other branches that needed sawing. The big news is that the city is supposed to deliver dirt today! There is a plan in the works on what to do with the dirt so stay tuned.

Good stuff! Post up if you're doing some work this weekend, I'm pretty free this weekend and wouldn't mind slinging some dirt. Plus, I haven't even ridden QP yet!
