    Possible film showing

    October 27, 2014, 10:43 PM

    Hey guys,

Just shot a couple e-mails back and forth with Mark Scotch.  He was part of a documentary about the Arrowhead 135 adventure race.

No details yet but he's wondering if we would be interested in doing a showing as a fundrasier.  They just sold out 250 seats for a show in Minneapolis.

Very likely zero cost to CORP.

    Here's the trailer:

Trailer? Did not come through for me....

Sounds like a cool event though. I would like to see how these crazy folks rode and survived a 135 mile race in 20 below temperatures :o

Chuck, this film wasn't about this year's race.  It features Scotch on skis...from last year I believe.

At any rate, I think it's a cool idea and would like to see it.

The trailer is showing up for me in Firefox.  Maybe try a different browser?

Any possibility we can screen this for our first social meeting in Jan?

It would be cool to do this as a social meeting / fundraiser. Lord knows we need to find new and creative ways to raise $ for new trails and equipment. And it should be a lot of fun as well.
Maybe we could mark this $ to get trail grooming equipment for snowbiking? Just a thought as it would seem to pertain....

Lovin the idea of getting some snow grooming equipment.  How much $ would it take to get something out at CamRock do you think Chuck?

Richard Schick brought up a great point - bring in other user groups to expand the potential audience.

I am reasonably sure we could get a couple race participants to be present for a question/answer after the movie.

This might be a good thing to engage REI about.  A significant portion of their customers might be interested so maybe they'd be willing to foot some or all of the bill for a venue in exchange for the advertising.  A school or church would be other venues to consider.

    Couple of questions:

    1.  Who owns the video and how do we get permission to show it?

    2.  What type of venue do we want to use/how to show video

    3.  Can we tie showing/entry fee to winter riding in some way?

    4.  Do we want to be the primary on this and solicit smaller sponsors, or get a big sponsor like REI to take care of logistics?

I have contact information for Adventure Minnesota.  A screening can range from a small group to a large venue.  Fee would be reasonable and based on projected attendance.

The east side club may be a possibility.  They have a big banquet room with a bar and they are right on the lake, more than a few lake rides have taken an extended pit stop there.

Not a bad idea.  We need to: 1) decide for sure if we are doing this; 2) get an ad hoc committee together and divide up tasks; 3) figure out a date for this (January is not that far off); and 4) decide who we want to partner with for a sponsor.  I like the REI idea.

Rich, can you see what the club's availability in January, and cost/capacity?
