    Lower Section of Climb Reroute

    October 08, 2012, 08:27 PM

Thursday night, October 11, is the planned work night. I'll be at the toolbox at 5:30 sharp. We will grab some tools and wander up the sandy climb and work together adding some water diversions.

It gets dark by 7, so that's why we need to start a little earlier. If you arrive late, grab a tool of choice (I'll leave some out by the toolbox) and walk up the hill and find us.

    Work gloves are recommended!

I will be there, perhaps closer to 6 than 5:30, so leave a tool out for me.

I need to keep my work days to weekends so I cant join you. Glad too hear folks like it, other thoughts are to add some different dirt to the small sandy area right before you start to go up. I do hope to get some more dirt on the 180 turn around too make it a bit smoother, but havent been able to ride or work with bruised ribbs and  back pains. Even the Mona Lisa's falling apart.

I'll get there 6ish, early is tricky for me.  Will bring a headlamp to stay late.

Somebody uncovered the old climb.  I take it that it was covered for a reason and is not to be ridden?

took me half an hour to dig up all that brush,  :(

we should block it off better, its not sustainable and should go away.

I am looking forward to my first trail work at QR, next to some guy in a headlamp with a chainsaw.  Guess I should bring some beer.

Now we have an even more definite goal Thursday night - close off the old climb for good. I thought you guys did a great job blocking it off, and the new route seemed so natural and flowed so well I am surprised anyone moved the brush. Quarry Ridge always has people destroying barriers. If I have time, I'll put a hand cart in the truck and we can put a few 100 lb rocks in the way.

My guess it could have been one more riders who desire to ride fast laps and hit that climb with speed and keep on rolling.  Like the above posts, the more crap in the way, less chance of it being moved and or those riders will get tired of moving more crap!

Put in vertical looking stuff, hides it better.
