We are now officially under a Blizzard Warning for Thursday afternoon. Sounds like it's time to get a Fat Bike Ride planned!
Blizzard Warning starts at noon. Lets ride at noon. Start at CamRock Sport. I would rather ride in the daylight and not have a blizzard AND night ride for the first snow ride of the year. Maybe the snow won't be too deep to negotiate yet at that time.

Is anyone else able to get out mid-day on a snowy day?

I love a sketchy adventure just as much as anyone else (maybe more), but you may want to take note of the winds before venturing out.  The current predictions for that time are sustained winds in the mid  20's with gusts in the 40's. Personally I would not want to be around too many trees in those conditions, especially those that were just covered in heavy wet snow.

That said, if anyone is interested in a downtown Madison blizzard ride at noon then speak up  ;D

Will be home with the kids, schools will be closed.
I think we're supposed to have 5-8" by tomorrow morning, you really think you'll be riding at noon?

Since the freakishly nerve bag school administrators have cancelled school based on a forecast I'm going to predict this is a big bust and we get less than 5 inches.

I'm down for a ride! We're both off work tomorrow, so the wife can watch the kid. Time to put on the flat pedals!

Based on the current forecasts I am just hoping to able to make it as far as Cambridge. If it gets too deep I will snowshoe in and start the stomping :)
All the better if you Mad-City folk can't make it out. It's like a powder day on the mountain. More freshies for me!
I may get out yet tonight as it has already started coming down. That or first light in the morning.

    Everywhere is a bike park!!!

How does one "Like" on this forum?  :D Same experience here. Got out for a short 1.5 miles or so around the neighborhood to put the first snow miles on the Beargrease. I was very much impressed by the capabilities of this bike as I moved through 6-7" of heavy wet snow. Definitely better in these extreme conditions than my old bike.

I think I am going to heed the pleas to not travel by automobile today, so Cam-Rock is out for me. But travel by bike on the other hand, the guys on the news aren't saying anything about that. I'm thinking of heading out for my blizzard ride around 2pm. I will try to get downtown from the Olbrich area via side street and/or bike path / right down the middle of E. Wash cause there won't be any cars out.

This heavy wet snow is pretty ideal for the bikes, it compresses very well.  There may not be a need for a snowshoe romp, we can probably just go straight for the bikes.

Thanks for posting the pics guys!
If anybody rides at a trail system please post up.  I'm home with the kids and can't get out, but if school is open tomorrow I'll be riding for sure.

This stuff compresses really well. The first ride through is a bit of extra effort but there is enough moisture give nice grip. I'm running 2.5psi btw.
